(I understand that sometimes unexpected changes are challenging for some folks and I change my hair and glasses often, so here are a few pictures of me recently to set expectations for personal appearance changes)

My Story

I've been teaching yoga in the Greater Lafayette Area since 2005, when I opened my first downtown Lafayette studio, OM & the Turtle, then later opening Wabi Sabi Yoga Studio downtown on Main St. in 2011.

After some successful years of business, I took time off of my yoga business to finish my degree, graduating from Purdue University with a focus in Gender & Sexuality Studies, Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, and LGBTQ Studies. I also volunteered during this time for Outfest, and our area Pride center as a guest speaker. Other volunteerism currently includes being an active board member and V.P. at Pride Lafayette Inc., event organizing for fundraisers, and harm reduction programs; past memberships in the Younger Women’s Task Force and the Greater Lafayette American Civil Liberties Union. I am a passionate and active advocate for human rights, civil rights, reproductive rights, labor rights, and more comprehensive and evolving education. Despite being busy with these callings, I’m excited to come back to service incorporating all my skills, experiences and passions within Root Down Mind & Body Collective .

I draw on nearly two decades of knowledge and experience in yoga, fitness, health, wellness -- and a lifetime of curiosity, learning and playing. I'm passionate about helping and encouraging people to be the best version of themselves -- strong, healthy & happy. I am certified in Y12SR (Yoga and the 12 Step Recovery), Trauma-Informed mind and body techniques for At-Risk Youth, and additional Trauma-Informed yoga techniques which I utilize to facilitate private lessons and emotional regulation classes at a local middle school. Through the Our Whole Lives program, I received my certifications to facilitate comprehensive Sexuality Education. I'm currently (2021-2022) a Sexuality and Intimacy Counselor-in-training thru Sexual Health Alliance and accepting clients.

My practices are inclusive, sex-positive, compassionate, non-judgmental and reaffirming.

By integrating body, breath, movement, meditative awareness, and sexual health we promote awareness of the interdependency of all these aspects in personal health and well-being. At Root Down Mind & Body Collective, I use my extensive training and in-depth understanding of the human body, psyche and cultural relevancy to teach and cultivate awareness of one’s own practice and life process.

In the words of the sages and soothsayers, The Beastie Boys,

"So how we gonna kick it? Gonna kick it root down."
